Teldoc is an Australian-owned telehealth service. Our doctors can help with prescriptions, medical certificates, referrals and everyday health concerns without a trip to a clinic. Telehealth in Canberra

Canberra has free, nurse-led walk-in centres in Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Weston Creek and Dickson for minor illnesses and injuries. Teldoc is useful when you need a doctor rather than a nurse, for example for an eScript, a medical certificate or a specialist referral, and can't get in to see your regular GP.

We don't replace your regular doctor. We're there for the times you need care quickly and a clinic visit isn't practical. For free health advice at any hour, you can also call healthdirect on 1800 022 222.

Teldoc is not an emergency service. If you have a medical emergency, call 000 or go to the emergency department at Canberra Hospital in Garran or North Canberra Hospital in Bruce.

Common Questions from Patients in Canberra

Q. Can I use Teldoc if I live in Queanbeyan or elsewhere near Canberra?

Yes. Teldoc is fully online, so you can see a doctor from anywhere in the ACT or surrounding NSW. eScripts can be filled at pharmacies on either side of the border.

Q. What are Teldoc's opening hours in Canberra?

We're open 9am to 7pm, seven days a week. The ACT uses the same time zone and daylight saving as Sydney, so those are your local hours.

Q. How is Teldoc different from a Canberra walk-in centre?

ACT walk-in centres are free, nurse-led clinics you visit in person for minor illnesses and injuries. Teldoc connects you with a doctor by phone or video, who can issue eScripts, medical certificates and referrals where appropriate. Fees apply unless you're eligible for bulk billing.

Q. How much does a consultation cost?

Standard consultations are $55 on weekdays and $75 on weekends and public holidays. Bulk billing is available for eligible Medicare card holders, including STI testing and contraception consultations, babies under 12 months and people experiencing homelessness. Medicare only covers a telehealth GP consultation if you have seen us in person in the past 12 months or an exemption applies, so other consultations are charged at our private fee. See our fees for details.

Q. What should I do in an emergency?

Don't use telehealth. Call 000 or go to the emergency department at Canberra Hospital in Garran or North Canberra Hospital in Bruce.
