What our the Gold Coast patients use us for

Local health services on the Gold Coast

Teldoc works alongside the services already available on the Gold Coast. If a telehealth consultation isn't the right fit, our GP will tell you and point you to the right place.

• Gold Coast Sexual Health Service, Southport Health Precinct: Queensland Health's public sexual health clinic offering confidential testing and treatment. Teldoc can arrange the same tests by telehealth with a pathology request.
• Emergencies: for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding or any emergency, call 000 or go to the Gold Coast University Hospital emergency department in Southport or Robina Hospital. Telehealth is not for emergencies.

Bulk billing on the Gold Coast

We bulk bill every consultation that Medicare covers. Medicare only covers a telehealth GP consultation if you have seen us in person in the past 12 months or an exemption applies. Exemptions include sexual health consultations, babies under 12 months and patients experiencing homelessness, so those consultations are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. In most cases yes. Our GP will ask about your usual medication and, if it is appropriate and not a controlled medicine, send an eScript so you can fill it locally. We also issue medical certificates and referrals.

Do you do STI testing on the Gold Coast?
Yes. After a discreet video or phone consultation we send a pathology request you can take to any collection centre on the Gold Coast. Results are reviewed by our GP and treatment can be arranged by eScript.
