What our Sunshine Coast patients use us for

• Repeat prescriptions: an eScript sent by SMS that you can fill at any pharmacy from Caloundra to Noosa.
• Medical certificates: for work, UniSC or TAFE, emailed the same day.
• Sexual health: discreet STI testing and treatment, contraception, bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Erectile dysfunction consultations are a private fee ($55 weekdays / $75 weekends) with no Medicare rebate.

Local health services on the Sunshine Coast

Teldoc works alongside the services already available on the Coast. If a telehealth consultation isn't the right fit, our GP will tell you and point you to the right place.

• Sunshine Coast Sexual Health and HIV Service (Clinic 87), Nambour General Hospital: Queensland Health sexual health clinic. Teldoc can arrange the same STI tests by telehealth with a pathology request.
• Emergencies: for any emergency call 000 or go to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital emergency department at Birtinya, or Nambour or Gympie hospitals. Telehealth is not for emergencies.
• Hinterland and regional patients: if the nearest GP is a long drive from Maleny, Kenilworth or the Mary Valley, a phone consultation works even on a poor mobile connection.

Bulk billing on the Sunshine Coast

We bulk bill every consultation that Medicare covers. Medicare only covers a telehealth GP consultation if you have seen us in person in the past 12 months or an exemption applies. Exemptions include sexual health consultations, babies under 12 months and patients experiencing homelessness, so those consultations are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. We bulk bill every consultation that Medicare covers. For most patients that means sexual health consultations, babies under 12 months and patients experiencing homelessness; other telehealth consultations are only covered by Medicare if we have seen you in person in the past 12 months. I'm on holiday in Noosa and have run out of my regular medication. Can you help?
In most cases yes. Our GP will ask about your usual medication and, if it is appropriate and not a controlled medicine, send an eScript so you can fill it locally.

Can I get a medical certificate for UniSC or my employer?
Yes. After a consultation our GP can issue a medical certificate, emailed to you the same day.
