A Mental Health Care Plan is a GP-prepared plan that provides Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions annually, making psychology care accessible and affordable via telehealth or in-person.

  8. Can I get a Mental Health Care Plan through Teldoc Australia?

    Yes, Teldoc doctors can assess your eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan, which can provide access to rebates for up to 10 sessions with a psychologists or other allied mental health professionals per year.

  9. What if I need medication?

    Our doctors will assess your mental health and can discuss medication options with you and provide prescriptions where clinically appropriate.

  10. Does Teldoc offer bulk-billing or Medicare rebates for online Mental Health Plans?

    Yes! We offer bulk billing for patients with a valid concession card. For patients with a Medicare card but without a concession card, you will receive $106 rebate into your bank account. Please visit our pricing page for details.

  11. If I have Medicare but no concession card, can I get a rebate for online Mental Health Plan consultations?

    Yes. If you have a Medicare card, you will pay $140 for your telehealth mental health plan consultation, and receive a rebate of $106 into your bank account.

  12. How does the Medicare rebate work?

    After your consultation, we will process your Medicare claim electronically. The rebate will then be automatically deposited into your nominated bank account with usually within a few business days.

  13. Is telehealth suitable for mental health emergencies?

    No. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency (e.g., thoughts of self-harm or suicide), please seek immediate help. Contact emergency services (000 in Australia), Lifeline (13 11 14), or present to your nearest hospital emergency department.

  14. Are Mental Health Plans Currently Available Through Teldoc

    Due to recent Medicare changes, Mental Health Care Plans can only be provided by a patients usual GP seen face to face in the prior 12 months. As a telehealth platform, we are unable to therefore offer Mental Health Plans Online for the majority of patients. Currently, there is an exemption for patients experiencing homelessness, and we continue to provide services to these patients.
